    EXTERIOR

The completely fenced cobblestone courtyard extends across the front of the building over a surface area of over 90 square meters, flat, with a portion covered by a wooden roof that extends from the old wood-burning oven to the well serving the house.

    CURIOSITIES AND HISTORY

Cereseto is a town with an ancient history, its name, deriving from Cerasòla assigned in the early Middle Ages, is due to the Turkey oak woods that surround it.

In July 1944 it was the victim of Operation Wallenstein, carried out by Nazi-Fascist troops who, after having put Compiano and Strela to fire and sword, continued up to here where numerous homes were set on fire as well as the ancient rectory. Only the church was saved and at the point where many inhabitants were killed it is still possible to see the marks left by the bullets.

Probably built in the 14th century, the church was rebuilt in late Baroque style in 1899 and reconsecrated the following year; inside there are six side chapels; numerous statues and an organ belonging to the second half of the 18th century.

The Baptistery, probably built before the issuing of the Edict of Saint Cloud, baroque in stone, was restored at the beginning of the 21st century; developed on an octagonal plan, it is preceded by a portico with three round arches; decorated on the vault with frescoes with floral motifs, it houses inside the sandstone baptismal font; under the floor is the ancient mortuary.

Third in terms of construction in the Diocese of Piacenza Bobbio after that of Parma and that of Varese, it is defined as the "little jewel of our mountains and the pride of the Cerese
